Utah  Rock Hunting Continued

Leading up to Topaz Mountain, a must go to place if staying in Delta, you can see the color of the rock that holds the topaz...and of course a well maintained gravel road leading to it…...well maintained stops a little short of your destination…

Look for the rock piles if you know your old boy or girl scout manual, three rocks means straight ahead.

Need a nap, there is an old cot, just bring a mattress and enjoy the stars, rattle snakes and the scorpions….

( do not sleep out under the stars, you will need a closed tent)

You might look up Inukshuk Ancient Navigational Aids, but I got tired of looking through the intermess…...for what all the rock piles mean…...or, an old Eagle Scout handbook

There is some shade…...make use of it……….good place for your car and water!

Take a hike with a rock hammer and chisel for the hard work, or sift through the gully's and other's tailings! We did!

If you don't have a
Utah Atlas……..get one now.

Topaz, at Topaz Mountain is on page 43 of your Utah Atlas…….C, 5 1/2

Sun Stones can be found down another road, page 36, no real road to turn off highway 257,  about 10 miles south of Deseret, on the left of the road, you will see some small hills. Park just on the other side of the railroad tracks….page 36, B 1

A common occurrence after traveling the well maintained roads in Utah, gas pump in and clean the windshields…….
Thanks Figan!!!!!

Another good idea is fix a flat…..just incase.
